A Beautiful Mind: The Life of Mathematical Genius and Nobel Laureate John Nash

Description

A Beautiful Mind is the definitive biography of John Nash, the Nobel Prize-winning mathematician whose extraordinary intellect was both his greatest gift and his heaviest burden. Sylvia Nasar traces Nash's trajectory from a brilliant student at Princeton to a revolutionary mathematician whose work on non-cooperative games changed economics forever, while documenting the tragic schizophrenia that shadowed his genius for decades.\n\nNasar does not romanticize; she captures the harrowing reality of a man battling paranoid schizophrenia while simultaneously producing groundbreaking theory. The narrative is both a tribute to Nash's intellect and a profound exploration of mental illness. You will finish this book not only with a deeper understanding of Nash's mathematical contributions but with a more compassionate view of the struggle between brilliance and illness. A modern classic of biography.
