A Different Beat: Writings by Women of the Beat Generation (High Risk Bks))

Description

The Beat Generation is often remembered through a few canonical male voices, but women were present and prolific from the start. Richard Peabody's 'A Different Beat' recovers these lost voices, presenting the poetry of women who wrote in the shadow of the mainstream canon — poets whose work was as raw, experimental, and vital as anything published by Ginsberg or Kerouac.\n\nPeabody brings together the writings of women across the Beat movement, from the early Ferruolo to later figures. Each poem is a testament to the energy and vision these writers brought to the American literary scene. The collection is both a tribute and a reclamation of poetry that deserves a place at the center of our understanding of the Beat generation.
